by They say that behind every great man is a great woman, but not every man is fortunate enough to have such a situation. There are many men out there who simply cannot hold on to a girlfriend, with little understanding as to why. In fact my buddy Frank from Wesson has a terrible history with girls and without seemingly doing very much, they up and leave him. My other close friend Eric Wetlaufer however, has had a girlfriend now for over 4 years and they are very happy together, and plan too marry in the future. For the assistance of Frank and many of you, here are Eric’s tips on keeping a girlfriend.
Fidelity
The first reason Eric gives is of course the most obvious, staying faithful. uric tells me that fidelity is a characteristic which should be a given in any relationship, and without it things won’t go very well. In fact Eric says that when you start two court a girl, prior to being ‘exclusive’ you should already have forgotten about any other women, Eric himself declined a few advances when he first started dating his now-girlfriend.
Honesty
Honesty must be the cornerstone to a great relationship, in all of its brutal forms. Of course Eric is not speaking so much about at the beginning of a relationship, during this time honesty is still important but hard to hear home truths are probably best off being left in your head. In most cases a little bit of honesty goes a long way, but you should always aim to be fully honest with your partner after a couple of years.
Fun
Eric says that the one thing which he is most scared about in the relationship is that it becomes boring. In light of this both Eric and his partner made a pact that they would never allow the relationship to get boring and the pair of them have been on some amazing adventures during their time together. I really like the way that Eric and his girlfriend address their time together, and focus on fun above all else.
Listening
Something Eric will often say about Frank when he is complaining about his luck with the ladies is that he just doesn’t listen to what they have to see, nor for that matter care what they say. Eric is the polar opposite to this and he always has a listening ear available. As it happens, his girlfriend is exactly the same and I imagine that the two of them have some greta conversations and can tell each other anything.
Space
Eric cites the most important thing in his relationship as having space and allowing each other to have their own things. Eric says that as much as he loves spending time with his girl, he loves nothing more than getting away from her for a few hours for some boy time.
