Stress is something which we are only just beginning to understand properly and the information which we know so far about stress is very worrying. If you look in a medical directory you will find that stress is often referred to as the silent killer, noting that men and women who have lives that are filled with stress, are more susceptible to illnesses and ailments. No matter how you live your life there will be stress but what is most important is our resilience to it, and our ability to cope with the stress that exists.
My good friend George Ammar probably has more reasons to be stressed than anyone else that I know, he has worked hard to be CPA certified and following this he launched his own company Ohio CFO Llc right here in Cleveland, plus he has 3 kids at home as well. In spite of George S Ammar’s reasons why he could be stressed, he almost never is and I caught up with him to find out how he deals with it.
Meditation
George discovered a meditation app last year which he now uses every single day. He tells me that the days when he cannot use it for whatever reason he feels the urge to take 10minutes out to breathe and relax, such is the impact of this relaxation method on him that also helps him focus. George considers meditation as an emergency meeting that he has to have with himself when things are getting on top of him and he tells me that it is the ultimate stress reliever.
Exercise
George leads a very active lifestyle and he is a very healthy eater, two activities which have been attributed to greatly lowering stress levels and increasing the body’s ability to cope with stress. If George doesn’t have time to workout before work he tells me that those are the days when he feels the pressure more, evidence that the work out is really helping with George’s ability to deal with the stress that he is under each day. Exercise is a perfect stress buster as it helps you to forget about the situation and it also releases endorphins throughout the body which are feel-good chemicals.
The Children
When he looks at the kids, George tells me, he suddenly realizes that most of the stuff which he is concerned or stressed about suddenly pales into comparison. Children have no idea about the stuff that adults get stressed about and why should they? This time with the kids is vital to George’s daily routine and it is they who remind him that some of the things which make him feel under pressure or stressed, really aren’t even important. Furthermore when he gets home from work and the kids are waiting with their arms stretched out, that is the moment when all of the stress disappears.
