You can get your body moving after giving birth, but you should talk to your doctor about it first. Every birth is different, so there is no standard time in which you can get back to being active. Talk to your doctor about your recovery time, and ask when you can get moving again. Not very many new moms want to hear that they need to be patient during this time in their lives, but it’s one of the best ways to lose weight. Even if your weight comes off in the first week after birth, your body will feel and look different. It’s softer, and it will take months to regain your muscles and get your abs back. You must practice patience.
Work Out With Your Baby
Once your doctor clears you to get back to your regularly scheduled program after your six-week checkup, try working out with your baby. Power walks and long runs are made easier when you bring your baby in a baby jogger. You can find mommy and me yoga classes all over the country. You can join the local YMCA and take your baby to the infant room while you use the equipment. There’s more than one way to work out and include your baby in your workout, and that’s something many moms need in their lives.
You have the power to drop your baby weight once you give birth, but it’s not always the same process for every new mom. Some moms look like they’ve never given birth a week after the baby is born. Other moms need more time. There’s no such thing as normal, and you just have to work with your body and what it needs from you.
