Sleep is extremely important, and if you’re not getting enough of it you will begin to notice that your productivity is decreased, your mood is lowered, and you aren’t feeling well physically. Unfortunately, there are going to be times in your life when you haven’t gotten enough sleep and you’re still going to have responsibilities such as work, school, and parenting. When your productivity can’t afford to take a hit just because you’re overly tired, you may be scrambling to figure out what to do. Here are 5 tips to help you stay productive even when you’re tired.
Take Supplements
Taking energizing supplements in addition to your daily vitamins is a great way to perk yourself up a bit while giving your body what it needs. Although you should never exclusively rely on supplements to keep you going and should always strive to get better sleep, in a pinch this is a really great option.
Remember It’s Temporary
Just like anything else in life, being really exhausted is only temporary. If you are feeling super tired and aren’t able to get anything done because of it, remind yourself that you will be able to catch up on sleep soon which will make you feel much better, both mentally and physically.
Only Take On What You Can Handle
If you anticipate that you’re going to get less sleep than you need, do yourself a favor and only take on things you can handle. This means saying no to things you know you might be too tired for, or just things that require extra attention or take a long time. Certain tasks are easier to do when you are running low on sleep than others, so try to plan your day accordingly if you think you might be on the tired side!
Eat Healthy
If you are already running on insufficient sleep and aren’t feeling your best, adding junk food on top of that can slow you down even further. Eating as healthy as possible when you are sleep deprived is a good way to wake your brain up a little and help you to stay on track until your day is done and you can finally get some rest.
Be Honest
Being honest with yourself and others about how you are feeling is another good way to keep from making matters worse in a situation where you are overly tired. Let people know that you may not realistically be able to meet the deadlines they have set because you haven’t gotten enough sleep and chances are, they’ll understand. Don’t forget to go easy on yourself as well.
Staying productive is difficult all the time in this day and age, but even more so when you’re tired! Hopefully these tips will help you to get things done even when you haven’t gotten enough sleep.
